Clearwater Pool Systems' chemical-free water treatment consists of three main components

1. RC-50 Platinum Deluxe: Pool ionization system with integrated ScaleBlaster (sound wave generator against lime deposits)
2. OZ-50 Vacuum Ultraviolet Ozone Generator
3. PH-50 ph-regulator with CO₂ (carbonic acid)

The RC-50 generates copper ions by using low voltage on two electrodes. The ions get into the pool water and inhibit the formation of algae at concentrations as low as 0.15 milligramme/litre.

The technology is not new. The Ancient Greeks used copper to disinfect water. Copper is used even today in organic and conventional agriculture as a plant protection agent against fungal diseases.

Since copper is a vital trace element, the limit level in Swiss drinking water is 1.5 mg/l (10x higher than needed for algae control in the pool).

The RC-50 incorporates the award-winning ScaleBlaster, which uses sound wave frequencies and alternating polarity to prevent scale build-up in the pool piping and interacts positively with the copper ions.

The entire system is NASA, NSF and UL certified.

Advantages over similar products

• Replacement of electrodes without disassembly of piping (every 10-15 years).
• The system is suitable for pools up to 200'000 litres.

Ozone is the strongest known oxidant. It reacts 3'000 times faster and is 55 times stronger than chlorine. 
Ozone reacts within seconds with viruses, body fats, sun creams and all protozoa (such as cryptosporidia or E.Coli).
Ozone is very unstable. In moving water it converts into oxygen within minutes.

The OZ-50 unit uses negative pressure and UV to split oxygen molecules from the ambient air into individual oxygen atoms, which then combine with additional oxygen to form ozone: O₂ -> 2xO₁ => O₃

Ozone reacts with the membrane of the protozoa and perforates it (forms a hole). The cell plamsa exits the cell and destroys it immediately.
Viruses are not living organisms because they have no metabolism. Their envelope is the key with which they infiltrate the contained genetic information into cells. Ozone destroys this shell and makes viruses inactive.
Fats oxidize with ozone, are excreted from the water and can be removed by filtration.

The entire system is certified NASA, NSF and UL.

Clearwater Pool Systems is breaking new ground in automatic pH regulation.

The pH-Pure system automatically regulates pH using carbonic acid. The pH is directly related to the amount of CO₂ dissolved in the water. Water looses constantly CO₂ because the carbon content equalizes with the surrounding atmosphere.
The pH-value is only relevant in connection with chlorine because chlorine is no longer active from a pH-value above 7.8. The reactivity of ozone, on the other hand, is pH independent.

For the quality and durability of water the content of CO₂ is nevertheless recommendable. Minimal amounts are necessary to keep the pH between 7.2 and 7.6.

For example, a 20-liter tank of carbon dioxide 3.0 is sufficient for a pool of 40,000 liters for about one year.
